A Technique for Measuring the Relative Cesr Beam Energy
نویسنده
چکیده
The beam energy at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring must be maintained within 1 MeV of the (4S) resonance peak. The beam energy is determined on a run-by-run basis by calculation based upon machine parameters. As a test of the energy calculation we have explored a technique for determining the relative CESR beam energy using synchrotron radiation. We describe the technique and present a status report on our experimental investigations.

Measuring the deposited energy from a non-ionizing laser beam in water by digital holographic interferometry
Digital Holographic interferometry is a powerful and widely used optical technique for accurate measurement of variations in physical quantities such as density, refractive index, and etc. In this study, an experimental digital holographic interferometry setup was designed and used to measure the amount of energy changes induced by absorption of radiation from a non-ionizing infrared laser beam...
متن کاملEffect on Luminosity from Bunch–to–bunch Orbit Displacements at Cesr
In routine operation the Cornell Electron/positron Storage Ring, CESR, collides 9 trains of 4 or 5 bunches of electrons and positrons. The luminosity of individual bunch pairs can suffer if the transverse positions of those bunches are displaced differentially. This paper will present the results of studies of the effect of bunch–by–bunch or train– by–train variations in the luminosity by measu...
متن کاملStudies of the Beam-beam Interaction at Cesr
The Cornell Electron Storage ring facility CESR operates with 2 GeV multi-bunch electron and positron beams in a single beam-pipe. Electrostatic separators are used to separate the two counter-rotating beams at the parasitic crossings. When the beam energy was lowered from 5 GeV in 2003, the strength of the beam-beam interaction became a more important factor in beam-current limitations, result...
متن کاملUsing Passive Cavities for Bunch Shortening in Cesr*
Passive (beam-driven) superconducting cavities can be used in storage rings for bunch shortening when necessary high RF voltage can be achieved only by using multiple cavities, but the beam power consumption does not justify using all of them in the active mode, powered by klystrons. An example is the ee collider CESR running with a beam energy below 2.5 GeV as a charm-tau factory (CESR-c) [1]....

We summarize recent running experience at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR) operating as a highstatistics production-threshold factory for mesons containing charm quarks. Since beginning operation at beam energies near 2 GeV in late 2003, CESR has accumulated world-record samples of D and Ds meson decays and has also operated in an energy-scanning mode, making unique contributions to the...
